With our seas being trawled dry, it's never been more important to buy sustainably caught fish. There simply isn't plenty more fish in the sea anymore and our 2 fish suppliers want to do something about it.
For over five generations Matthew Steven's family have been living and breathing fishing from their home in St Ives, Cornwall. With family values and sustainable fishing at heart, Matthew has been at the helm of the business since 1960. Now running the show with his daughter, Andrea, Matthew is devoted to promoting the benefits of fresh fish and traceable fishing methods, striving to continue making a positive and responsible impact on the environment and local communities. Despite the dangers inherent in long days spent at sea in hide tides and strong winds, fishermen in Cornwall remain the lifeblood of the region's economy. Their tenacity and skill are impressive, their passion infectious. Always conscious of local quotas and the impact of fishing on wild stocks, we are proud to be working with Matthew and supplying our customers with delicious and fresh Cornish produce.
Sole of Discretion is a collection of small-scale fishers in Plymouth harbour, just a short drive from our farm. They provide premium quality, ethical and sustainable fish with the environment in mind at all times. You will also find the name of who caught your fish and the boat they were on on the packaging too, which we think is rather lovely. You can read their sustainability-driven manifesto here.
